SHERLOCK is out for blood(hounds) in a new Season 4 photo!
Sherlock is back for a fourth season and this time, he’s got a doggie friend by his side!
The Telegraph released the first new image from the show’s upcoming season. It features Benedict Cumberbatch as title character Sherlock Holmes sniffing out for clues alongside a new friend, a bloodhound.
Goodness knows who the dog will actually belong to on the show, but a bloodhound was once featured in Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s The Adventures of the Creeping Man. The breed has been a pop culture favorite in detective stories ever since.
In the article, executive producer Steven Moffat faced a harsh truth behind Sherlock and its stars: Recognition that the show could come to an end.
“We do have two film stars in the programme. They haven’t needed to do these jobs for a very long time. They’re coming back because they want to,” Moffat said. “I’m amazed that we’ve got this far. I thought that once they had become extremely successful, we would only get to do one more series.”
However, Moffat acknowledged that the show’s pop-up style leaves room for a return at any time. “It could go on forever, coming back now and again,” he said.
The shows winter special, Sherlock: The Abominable Bride, was just nominated for six Emmy Awards, including an acting nomination for Benedict Cumberbatch.
The series is expected to return in early 2017.
