The latest Commissioner Gordon will be portrayed by Oscar winner J.K. Simmons!

J.K. Simmons, who won Academy Award in 2015 for his role in Whiplash, will team up with the Justice League in late 2017 as the newest incarnation of Gotham’s police commissioner, Jim Gordon!

The Justice League saga will hit theaters in two parts. Part 1 is due out on November 17, 2017 with Part 2 following on June 14, 2019. Details on the movie are still mum, so this is the first confirmation that Jim Gordon would even be featured in the films.

In the past, Commissioner Gordon has been played by the likes of Gary Oldman and Lyle Talbot, among others. Ben MacKenzie currently plays a younger version of the character on FOX’s Gotham.

J.K. Simmons also has old ties to the Marvel universe (via Sony,) where he played J. Jonah Jameson in the Spider-Man trilogy starring Tobey Maguire.
