Jared and Genevieve Padalecki Training for Boston Marathon, Raising Funds for Charity

Team Padalecki is starting out 2019 by training for another marathon and helping others in the process.

Back in November 2018, Jared Padalecki and Genevieve Padalecki joined many other Supernatural cast members in running the Seattle Marathon in The Bad Idea Tour. Of course, there was a charitable element to that event, too, and through funding, over $200,000 was raised to help fight childhood hunger.

It seems the running bug has bit the Padaleckis, as they are at it again! On April 15th, 2019, the husband-and-wife team will be sweating for a great cause. Through a CrowdRise campaign, the Padaleckis are raising funds for Dream Big!, a 501c(3) organization “supporting, outfitting, supplying, encouraging and providing opportunities for young girls who, due to economic circumstances, are unable to participate.” Dream Big! helps girls by donating equipment for various sports as well as giving scholarships so girls can attend athletic-related camps and classes.

Participating in sports has been a learning experience for both Jared and Gen:

“As a kid, soccer was MY LIFE… I learned some of the most important and valuable lessons that I’ve carried into my adult life. One thing I learned is that you aren’t going to “win” all of the time. But, I found that the lessons you learn from all of the setbacks along the way will provide the opportunity to learn what you can do to improve. There will be another play, another shot, another game.” –Gen

“Sports are where I first learned what it was like to have a team around you to support you when you were falling, and celebrate alongside you when you were soaring. I learned the importance of being a gracious winner and a classy loser.” –Jared

So, what can you do to support the generous Padaleckis?

  1. Donate any amount–big or small–to the Crowdrise campaign Jared and Gen started (with $5,000 of their own money).
  2. Spread the word about the Padaleckis’ efforts, and, even more importantly, the impressive work that Dream Big! accomplishes.
  3. If you’re feeling really ambitious, get training for a run of your own. It doesn’t have to be as massive as a marathon, but if you’re looking to get healthier in the new year, what better motivation than to do so side-by-side with the Padaleckis?
