According to DC and Warner Bros., AQUAMAN is sure to please the fans and moviegoers.

We’ve heard this kind of praise before, and it’s more rare than not to keep your expectations low, especially when it comes to DC superhero movies.

So, it’s no surprise to say that we feel cautious, but optimistic about Aquaman, played by Game of Thrones‘ Jason Momoa. Just looking at this one picture gives us hope that there’s a good DC movie out there that doesn’t involve Batman brooding yet again about the loss of his parents (no offense to Bruce).

The movie is director James Wan’s first superhero. He’s usually known for his horror films The Conjuring and Insidious as well as Furious 7.

So far, this is the only image from the movie that was released, but we’re sure to see more images of Amber Heard’s Mera, and Patrick Wilson’s King Orm, who is the half-brother of Aquaman.

The movie is scheduled for a December 21st release.
