Jet Li and Gong Li Join Disney’s Live-Action MULAN

On the heels of yesterday’s casting news, three others join Disney’s live-action MulanJet Li is in final talks to play the emperor of China who orders the mobilization of troops with the enlistment of one male from each household.

Gong Li will portray the villain of the movie. She is described as a powerful witch and is a character not featured in the animated classic.

Finally, Chinese-Vietnamese actress, Xana Tang, has been cast a Mulan’s sister, another character not featured the animated movie.

Martial arts champion, Jet Li, can previously be seen in the Shaolin Temple and Once Upon a Time in China franchises, as well as Lethal Weapon 4, and Romeo Must Die.

Gong Li, a huge star in China, can be seen in Red Sorghum, The Story of Qiu Ju, Coming Home, Chinese Box, and Memoirs of a Geisha.

Tang’s previous credits include New Zealand’s Filthy Rich and Australian series The Let Down and Dead Lucky.

Filming on Mulan will begin this August in China and New Zealand and is scheduled for a March 27, 2020 release.
