STAR WARS fans have long wondered if we could expect to see the new trilogy in IMAX format, and now the answer is “YES”– at least for one action sequence in START WARS EPISODE VII!
In a recent Variety article on IMAX filmmaking, JJ Abrams said that he’ll be stepping away from his traditional 35mm film approach (which will help replicate the looks of the original trilogy) for one action-packed scene for the seventh STAR WARS film.
“The benefits outweigh the headache of shooting on Imax cameras. The opportunity to have an action sequence for this movie done in Imax’s natural format was too delicious an idea to pass up. As a filmgoer, it’s something I want to see.”
Unfortunately, production details for the film are still being kept extremely mum and we have no idea what the action sequence in question will entail. Still, we can’t wait to see!
