THE WHITE PRINCESS’s Joanne Whalley Joins DAREDEVIL for Season 3

DAREDEVIL adds Joanne Whalley to its cast, including Vincent D’Onofrio who returns in the role of Wilson Fisk.

Joanne Whalley (The White Princess, Beowulf: Return to the Shieldlands) has signed on to play a significant role in season 3 of Daredevil. She’ll be playing Sister Maggie, a character created by Frank Miller and David Mazzucchelli first appearing in Daredevil #226 in 1986.

*spoilers ahead*

If you didn’t watch The Defenders or just need a little refresher on what happened to Murdock at the end of the series’ season, he was believed to be dead by his co-fighters and friends when he stayed behind to try to save Elektra from a collapsing building. But the final scene shows him lying on a cot in a room in what looks to be a convent, with the crucifix on the wall above his bed and a nun watching over him.

When he awakens, the nun calls for Sister Maggie, hinting at what could be the storyline for the third season of Daredevil, the “Born Again” arc from the comics. If that were the case, it wouldn’t exactly follow the comics, but including Sister Maggie is a strong indicator of the series bringing up some good plot points to the show.

Season 3 of Daredevil is set to air sometime this year.
