John Green Reveals His Favorite Lines That He’s Written

la-et-festival-of-books 3During a Q&A session at the L.A. Times Festival of Books this past weekend, John Green was asked about his favourite lines from his own books. Now, if you’ve read any of John Green’s books, chances are you have a favourite quote or passage(I know I do!), but this is the first time he has revealed his favourite lines from his own books. The lines are both from Looking for Alaska. The first one is about Pudge feeling inadequate in comparison to Alaska.

If people were rain, I was drizzle and she was a hurricane.

John also divulged two other tidbits about the line. His copy editor made him change the word “precipitation” to “rain” and he almost deleted the line entirely because he thought it might be too cheesy. His other favourite line is from a talk between Pudge and Alaska about the future.

“Imagining the future is a kind of nostalgia.”

As if that line wasn’t already fantastic enough, he then revealed that his wife, Sarah, told that to him on their first date. Awww! What are your favourite quotes from John Green’s books?
