Time travel has been making a big mark in entertainment recently, which may be why a recent Young Adult trilogy all about time travel is headed to the big screen!
Julie Cross’ Tempest has been optioned for film by Cross Pictures producers Sean and Scott Cross, who are not at all related to the author despite having the same last name. The 2012 novel is the first in a trilogy which also includes Vortex (2013) and Timestorm (2014).
The story follows a 19-year-old time traveler who witnesses his girlfriend’s murder and inadvertently jumps back two years. While stuck there, he’s recruited by a shadowy government agency run by the man he thought was his father and vows to save his girlfriend.
While producers and executive producers have been listed for the project, there is no seemingly screenwriter attached this early in the development. We’ll keep you posted as news pops up!
