The actor behind JUSTICE LEAGUE’s alien villain Steppenwolf has been announced!

Justice League has finally announced the actor behind major villain and he’s already made quite the mark on the entertainment world.

Game of Thrones actor Ciarán Hinds, best known as Mance Rayder, will play Steppenwolf. The character is the first general of a much more prominent DC baddie, Darkseid, which tells us that he may be the decoy for latter villain or just a good lead-up for a second Justice League showdown.

Steppenwolf is motion capture role, but Hinds’ intimidating form and acting skills will likely come in handy. As Slashfilm points out, we briefly saw an unfinished version of the character in a deleted scene from Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice. In the scene, Lex Luthor walks into the mysterious Kryptonian spaceship and finds himself in communion with Steppenwolf, who is wielding three mother boxes.

Justice League hits theaters on November 17, 2017.
