A.J. Betts’ contemporary YA journey ZAC AND MIA is being adapted into a digital series!

Zac & Mia by A.J. Betts is headed to an up-and-coming streaming service for a new digital series!

Like the book, the show follows two teens who are neighbors in the local hospital while undergoing cancer treatment. In the real world, the two probably wouldn’t be friends. But together in the hospital, they form a deep connection through which they discover hope, challenges, and triumphs. The novel was first published in 2013.

According to Deadline, Kian Lawley (Before I Fall) will star as Zac Meier, while Anne Winters (Tyrant) will play the mischievous Mia. Lawley discussed the series in a new video, in which he also debuted his shaved head.

The series will air on Verizon’s free mobile streaming service go90, which launched in late 2015 and has been working to build up original content since that time.

Zac & Mia started production on Saturday, but the show’s release date isn’t available quite yet.
