This THE MAGICIANS promo shows that Fillory is not all about magic and whimsy as they prepare for battle.

This promo was shown on The Magicians Facebook page and it’s pretty awesome, with what looks like them all preparing for various moments of battle. But not only that, Eliot, Margo, Alice, and of course Quentin must take up the responsibility of being kings and queens of Fillory, which is not just about gorgeous outfits and amazing rooms.

No, they have to be adult about this stuff, and it seems that type of responsibility will be a little harder for at least one of them. They were, after all, not quite prepared to leave their cozy lifestyle at Brakebills just yet. Well, maybe half of them were.

And then there’s the rest of them – Penny, Julia, and Kady – that have their own issues to deal with both in Fillory and outside.

Magic is dying. With our characters transported to the magical kingdom of Fillory – and named Kings and Queens of the land to boot – can they save magic? Oh, and there’s still the Beast to deal with, don’t forget. Meanwhile, Julia is on a no-holds-barred revenge quest against the evil God that attacked her.

The Magicians returns for its second season on Wednesday, January 25th on Syfy.
