Lana Condor and Noah Centineo discuss what they want to see next from Lara Jean and Peter K!
The holiday season brought fans of To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before a major gift: News of a sequel coming to Netflix announced by stars Lana Condor and Noah Centineo.
Based on the YA book series by Jenny Han, the sequel (which may or may not be called P.S. I Still Love You like the second novel) is going to offer up some stormy waters for Lara Jean and Peter stans as another childhood crush of Lara Jean’s, John Ambrose McClaren, comes into the picture. Fans met him ever so briefly in the mid-credits scene of the first film when he showed up at the Coveys’ doorstep with flowers, but the sequel announcement video suggest that a different actor may be jumping on board for the role.
As pre-production gears up, Lana Condor and Noah Centineo talked to EW about what they’d like to see for their characters next time around.
“I think Peter could be more vulnerable and jealous. He’s not a super evolved person, so there’s always more to explore and develop,” Noah said. If the movie follows the book, his wish will likely be granted– not to mention that Peter Kavinsky is more arrogant, overall, in the books.
Noah’s hopes mesh with Lana’s. “It’s in her nature to not be confrontational, so when people are mean to her or things happen to her that aren’t necessarily great, I think sometimes she’s just like ‘Okay well I guess that’s life. What would be exciting for me is for her to stand up for herself a little bit more.”
Cause and effect! If Peter is jealous and grumpy, perhaps Lara Jean will feel it more necessary to assert herself. There are other boys who are interested in Lara Jean as well, a fact that Noah certainly isn’t ignoring.
“I want people to get behind John, I want people to get behind Josh, I want people to get behind all the characters,” he said. “I would like to see fans bicker about it and have it be like the whole Edward Cullen-Jacob thing [from Twilight]. I love that.”
We’ll see how it all pans out when the To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before sequel hits Netflix! Can’t wait til then? Order Jenny Han’s P.S. I Still Love You via Amazon and you can continue the story right now!
