Liam Creates An Alternate History In THE DARKEST MINDS Teaser

THE DARKEST MINDS explores what could have been in “What Comes Next?” preview!

When your life has been turned upside down, it becomes easy to imagine something different for yourself. That’s exactly what Liam Stewart (Harris Dickinson) is doing in a stunning new preview from The Darkest Minds!

Set in a near future dystopian America, the movie will take audiences through a world in with 98 percent of children were wiped out by a vicious plague and the 2 percent who survived have developed startling powers ranging from extreme intelligence to mind control. These children have been placed in cruel “camps” by the government, who fear their power. Ruby is an orange, hiding her abilities and tricking everyone into thinking she’s a green– until the day she has an opportunity to escape and search for the storied resistance in the outside world.

In a scene straight out of the book, the teaser features Liam as he builds up an alternate reality in which he lives a normal life, working part-time, and has few real worries. Upon a fictional trip to the beach, he meets Ruby (Amandla Stenberg). As he tells her the story, scenes of their harsh reality play out in front of audiences. But then, of course, comes the big question: “What comes next?”

20th Century Fox also just posted a new video with The Darkest Minds series author Alexandra Bracken with a group of teen fans, asking a few questions about power and the characters, then answering a few of their questions in return!

The Darkest Minds hits theaters on August 3, 2018.

When teens mysteriously develop powerful new abilities, they are declared a threat by the government and detained. Sixteen-year-old Ruby, one of the most powerful young people anyone has encountered, escapes her camp and joins a group of runaway teens seeking safe haven. Soon this newfound family realizes that, in a world in which the adults in power have betrayed them, running is not enough and they must wage a resistance, using their collective power to take back control of their future.
