Lin-Manuel Miranda working with Alan Menken on THE LITTLE MERMAID

Lin-Manuel Miranda goes from MOANA to THE LITTLE MERMAID for Disney!

Many people absolutely love Hamilton: An American Musical and Moana, and the music from both the play and the movie is a major influencing factor. It just so happens that Lin-Manuel Miranda is behind both– and now he’s taking on a Disney classic!

Lin-Manuel Miranda is working on the music for The Little Mermaid along with Alan Menken, who wrote the film’s original score and songs with Howard Ashman. The latter original songwriter passed away in 1991, so Lin-Manuel Miranda will help fill his shoes and mostly focus on additional new music written for the live-action remake of the beloved Disney classic.

The Little Mermaid tells the story of “a mermaid princess [who] makes a Faustian bargain with an unscrupulous sea-witch in order to meet a human prince on land.”

There were many memorable and enjoyable songs in the animated version. Just how wonderful would it be to listen to Lin-Manuel Miranda’s additions in The Little Mermaid?
