Lionsgate to add THE HUNGER GAMES, TWILIGHT to South Korean Theme Park

Lionsgate is working include THE HUNGER GAMES and TWILIGHT in its South Korean Theme Park.

It looks like Lionsgate doesn’t want Universal and Disney to be the only movie studios with theme parks as it was announced earlier this week that the movie studio that made The Hunger Games and Twilight franchises will be joining with Landing Jeju Development Co. Ltd. to create Lionsgate Movie World.

The theme park will be park of one of South Korea’s largest integrated resorts, Jeju Shinhwa World, and is planned to have seven movie zones associated with some of their most successful films, including The Hunger Games and Twilight.

The plan is to start construction of the theme park sometime in 2018, with the park opening in 2019. Jeju Shinhwa World already boasts high-class hotels, resort condominiums, high end retail shops, other theme parks and a waterpark, a casino, and an entertainment center.

Not only will Lionsgate make a presence South Korea, but it has already partnered with Dubai Parks and Resorts to add two Hunger Games-themed rides at its Motiongate Dubai park, the largest Hollywood-theme park in the area, in the fall of this year. The Capitol Bullet Train is a roller coaster, while the Panem Aerial Tour is a 3D motion simulator ride that imitates riding a hovercraft.

But they aren’t stopping at just South Korea. Lionsgate has already made partnerships with companies in China and Spain for parks in Asia and the U.K.

Not only will The Hunger Games and the Twilight movies have notoriety in the theme parks, but other films like Now You See Me and the questionable Divergent franchises are going to be integrated.

Here’s the official announcement on the Jeju Shinhwa World site:

Lionsgate inaugural outdoor movie theme park is set to open in Jeju Shinhwa World! The first of its kind by Lionsgate, this will be a world-class theme park that combines state-of the-art rides, attractions, shows, themed dining and retail experiences to immerse guests within some of the world’s most popular films ever produced.

Movie Zones available are:
+ The Hunger Games
+ Now You See Me
+ Divergent
+ Saw
+ The Cabin in the Woods
+ Robin Hood
+ The Twilight Saga

So, if you’re into traveling and love these movies, you might want to put these areas into your bucket list.
