A new Times Square entertainment center will drop fans into Lionsgate entertainment properties!
Lionsgate has been hoping to prove its various properties worthy of their own theme park for years. There are Hunger Games and Twilight attractions headed to parks in Dubai and South Korea, but until recently, the idea didn’t seem to be holding much weight stateside.
Now, Lionsgate and Parques Reunidos are taking The Hunger Games, John Wick, and Mad Men attractions to New York City with an indoor entertainment center in Times Square.
According to EW, Lionsgate Entertainment City will feature a flight simulator that will take The Hunger Games fans on a daring rescue mission through The Capitol, a virtual reality take on the motorcycle dare from Nerve, and a shooting ride inspired by John Wick. There will also be a Capitol Confectionery, Peeta’s Bakery, and a 1960s Mad Men themed dining area.
We never really thought about these franchises as ride-and-attraction-style entertainment, but perhaps it could be something great that fans never knew they wanted?
Lionsgate Entertainment City is due to open sometime in 2019.
