Netflix’s 13 Reasons Why, based on the bestselling novel by Jay Asher, follows Clay (Dylan Minnette), a high school student who receives a mysterious set of tapes sent by his recently deceased classmate and former crush Hannah (Katherine Langford). In the tapes, Hannah recounts the things in her life that led her to suicide, including Clay himself. Through the experience, Clay learns about his affect on others and the depth of emotion that others feel.

The show isn’t available for streaming until the end of the month, but Netflix just released Hannah’s opening monologue from tape one so fans know what to expect. Hannah breaks things down for Clay, explaining why she made these tapes and what she hopes he’ll do with them in a chilling fashion.

13 Reasons Why comes to Netflix on March 31, 2017.
