Happy pub day to Suzanne Collins‘ The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, the prequel to The Hunger Games that we’ve been eagerly anticipating for ages!
Taking place during the 10th Hunger Games, The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes follows a teenage Coriolanus Snow as he works as a Gamemaker in the Capitol, slowly manipulating and influencing others, desperate to engineer a rise in status. Soon he’ll be the most powerful man in Panem, and this is how it all started.
To celebrate the release, EW has shared an exclusive audio excerpt of Santino Fontana (Frozen, Crazy Ex Girlfriend) narrating the first 11 minutes of the audiobook. To those of you who read the initial excerpt released in January, the content will sound familiar. Still, it’s a good way to get a feel for the audiobook narrator’s cadence– and Santino sounds pretty great!
If you haven’t snagged your copy yet, you can grab the audiobook via Audible or libro.fm, the indie bookstores-supporting equivalent to the major retailer.
Meanwhile, the physical or ebook can be snagged via Amazon, B&N, or Bookshop.org, the latter of which also supports indie bookstores. With plenty of curbside pick-up options, don’t forget to check with your local independent retailers as well!
