Louisa May Alcott‘s Little Women is no stranger to on-screen adaptations– it was a BBC miniseries just last year and the 1994 version is a fan-favorite. Now, the tale is getting another tale from Greta Gerwig, the director behind the hit indie Ladybird.
Little Women tells the story of the four March sisters– Jo, Meg, Beth, and Amy– as they venture through 19th century life in Massachusetts. As a poor family that comes from a more wealthy heritage, the March girls are expected to marry rich in order to restore their family, but an opportunistic marriage isn’t necessarily want they want out of life.
This particular adaptation stars Saoirse Ronan, Emma Watson, Florence Pugh, Eliza Scanlen, Laura Dern, Timothee Chalamet, and Meryl Streep.
