Looking For The Best Superhero Movies of 2017

With each year comes another crop of comic book movies, and 2017 will be no exception. Marvel and DC are releasing some of the most anticipated movies of their respective connected universes and fans will be hard-pressed to figure out which ones to see at the cinema. Thanks to so many different films, it can be difficult to decide what to seeā€”but these are the ones we recommend you don’t miss in 2017.

Logan

Logan seems like a darker and more serious take than we’ve ever seen for the X-Men films, and as a result it could be the best one yet. This will be Hugh Jackman’s final time in the role after 16 years of playing the character, so you know he’s going to go out with a bang. Director James Mangold and Jackman himself confirmed the synopsis of the film as a battle-weary Logan and an ailing Professor X are brought out of hiding by the emergence of a young mutant on the run. Fans have been super excited since the debut of the first trailer, and we hope that the movie will be able to live up to the high expectations.

Guardians of the Galaxy 2

Guardians of the Galaxy was a smash hit when it was released in 2014 and is one of the most fun movies in the MCU. Marvel took a bunch of characters no one had ever heard of and turned them into household names with their action-packed space adventure. Guardians 2 will feature even more heroes from the comics, and the news of Kurt Russell playing Chris Pratt’s father may be be the best casting ever. We just got our best look at Kurt Russell’s character through several new toys based on the movie, and he definitely has a bit of a Han Solo vibe. The sequel promises more of what made you fall in love with the first film along with a whole new soundtrack that’s sure to be just as incredible as “Awesome Mix Vol. 1.”

The Lego Batman Movie

The Lego Batman Movie is looking like it will be the funniest superhero movie since Deadpool. The main difference will be that you can actually take kids to see it. We also hope that this might signal another return for Batman to video games. The last Lego Batman game came out back in 2008, so we’re overdue for a sequel. The hero has been making a comeback through the recent Telltale series in addition to numerous appearances on an online platform featuring many popular franchises. There’s actually a handful of games on there that call back to the classic camp of the old Adam West movies, making them a must-try for any Batman fan. The Lego Batman Movie is bringing the fun back to the DC universe. And with a cast that includes plenty of Batman’s greatest villains (and some of the most forgettable) and many of his allies, this could be the perfect comic book movie for everyone.

Wonder Woman

This one is important because it’ll be the first superhero movie from the new DC or Marvel universes featuring a female lead. It’s hard to believe it’s taken this long for a woman to be given the spotlight, but it’s better late then never. Gal Gadot impressed during her cameo in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and looks to be even more amazing in her solo film. The movie’s main villain was just confirmed as Ares, the god of war, so we’re looking forward to an epic showdown when this movie opens on June 2.

These are nowhere close to all the comic book movies coming to theaters this year, what with huge films like Justice League and a new Thor also on the way. But these are the four that we think are going to offer fans the most for their money.
