Costume confusion reaches new heights in the first LOVE, SIMON clip!

Love, Simon, the movie adaptation of Becky Albertalli‘s beloved YA novel Simon Vs. The Homo Sapiens Agenda, has released its a humorous first clip which takes place at a Halloween party!

The movie follows Simon Spier, a not-so-openly gay teen whose correspondence with a secret admirer ends up in the hands of the class clown, who blackmails Simon: He’ll keep Simon’s secret if Simon helps him get together with a mutual friend. With his privacy and a carefully blooming relationship on the line, Simon must find out how to come out on his own terms before it’s too late.

In the clip, Simon (Nick Robinson) and his best friend Leah (Katherine Langford) show up to a Halloween party in style, but their friend Nick (Jorge Lendeborg Jr.) doesn’t quite get it. He’s got a hilarious interpretation of the costumes that’s all his own!

UPDATE!

EW just released an even longer version of the scene plus new photos!

The clip may be short, but it definitely shows off the movie’s quirky sense of humor and makes us love the characters a little more!

Love, Simon hits theaters on March 16, 2018.
