This news makes LUKE CAGE the second Marvel series to be canceled by Netflix this month. What’s next?

Just seven days after the cancellation of Iron Fist, Netflix and Marvel have released a new joint statement announcing that Luke Cage won’t be having a third season on the streaming platform.

“Unfortunately, Marvel’s Luke Cage will not return for a third season. Everyone at Marvel Television and Netflix is grateful to the dedicated showrunner, writers, cast and crew who brought Harlem’s Hero to life for the past two seasons, and to all the fans who have supported the series.”

The cancellation of Luke Cage comes as another surprise to the fans, since the series kept a good reception from both the critics and the audience during its running time, but as sources told The Hollywood Reporter, the ending of the series come after creative differences regarding the direction of what would be a third season.

On the other hand, rumor has it that Disney, currently working on their own streaming service, might pick up the characters from the canceled series to create a new one based on Heroes for Hire, the famous team up between Danny Rand and Luke Cage, but it’s all fan speculation to this point.

For the time being, Luke Cage‘s two seasons will remain available to stream on Netflix.
