Marvel Hires Margaret Stohl to Pen New Captain Marvel Series

Margaret Stohl, author of best-selling YA series Beautiful Creatures, is writing a new Captain Marvel series.

With all the hype about the upcoming Captain Marvel movie in 2019, publishers have also decided to relaunch a comic version of the heroine in 2017, with Margaret Stohl penning the entire thing.

Captain Marvel, also known as Ms. Marvel, is the female heroine known for her flight, super strength, and the ability to shoot energy bursts right from her hand. The upcoming series is said to continue from the mini on-going series, The Civil War 2, where Captain Marvel has achieved worldwide fame after going head to head with Iron Man.

Stohl has said that Captain Marvel “will be one of the most popular heroes on the planet — but that’s not something she is very comfortable with, and of course she’s lost a lot of folks that she’s loved so she has to cope with that, too. That being said, she still has a job to do as commander of the Alpha Flight. Her latest mission being recruiting and training new cadets (which will give us some fun supporting cast members). It’ll also bring with it a mysterious danger that will threaten everything Carol has built.”

With all the excitement building up about the series, it is reassuring to know this isn’t Stohl’s first time encountering the Marvel universe. Last year, she wrote Black Widow:  Forever Red, a YA novel that blended the world of comical superheros and the book community.
