Matt Smith Rumored For Starring Role in FANTASTIC BEASTS AND WHERE TO FIND THEM

Matt Smith may just be Newt Scamander in FANTASTIC BEASTS AND WHERE TO FIND THEM!

The HARRY POTTER spin-off trilogy FANTASTIC BEASTS AND WHERE TO FIND THEM is due out in November of 2016, so casting rumors are beginning to swirl!

According to recent reports, Matt Smith is reportedly a front-runner for the starring role in the trilogy. The actor best known is the Eleventh Doctor on DOCTOR WHO would play Newt Scamander, a magizoologist who finds himself caught up in a wild adventure starting in New York City.

We’re likely a long way from confirmation, but we think this casting choice would be spot-on. Since his exit from DOCTOR WHO, Matt Smith hasn’t been exactly been avoiding fandoms or franchises– He’s taken roles in TERMINATOR: GENISYS and PRIDE AND PREJUDICE AND ZOMBIES.

In fact, fans are so excited about the possibility that someone began a Change.org petition to cast Smith in the role.

Though the story takes place in the wizarding world, Newt’s journey takes place 70 years prior to Harry’s. Newt is the grandfather of Luna Lovegood’s husband, Rolf Scamander, but otherwise the stories are not interconnected.
