James Dashner teases tragic moment between Thomas and Newt in THE DEATH CURE with a picture of the cast reunited.
The Maze Runner franchise is finally back to filming the third and final installment of the movie trilogy, Maze Runner: The Death Cure. If you recall, production was pulled to a halt after the scary accident that seriously injured Dylan O’Brien. But O’Brien has since made a full recovery and it was just a matter of scheduling, as many of the actors had other projects, including Dylan with his involvement with Teen Wolf, and Kaya Scodelario with her pregnancy (she gave birth to a boy in November.)
Now, the gang is back and author James Dashner gave us proof that all looks well with the cast.

“Please, Tommy, please…pass the salt.”
Yeaahhh…. not very funny, Mr. Dashner!
For those of you who’ve read the book, you’ll understand this reference and the significance of Thomas and Newt’s exchange in that moment. And yes, the author did poke fun at it with this, though it’s a very disturbing and tragic moment in the series.
But, we’ll forgive him, because look! It’s the cast, sitting together, all smiles! In the picture, from left to right, are Kaya Scodelario (Teresa), Thomas Brodie-Sangster (Newt), Rosa Salazar (Brenda), Dexter Darden (Frypan), Dylan O’Brien (Thomas), Ki Hong Lee (Minho), and Will Poulter (Gally).
The movie also includes Barry Pepper, Jacob Lofland, Katherine McNamara, Nathalie Emmanuel, and Giancarlo Esposito. Wes Ball, who directed The Maze Runner, and Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials, returns to direct this movie, with a screenplay T.S. Nowlin.
Maze Runner: The Death Cure will hit theaters January 12, 2018.
