MAZE RUNNER star Dylan O’Brien’s injuries halt production

Filming postponed on set of the Maze Runner to allow star Dylan O’Brien time to recover from car accident.

On March 17, Maze Runner star Dylan O’Brien was hit by a car while working on set. He was sent to a local hospital to be treated and monitored, and reportedly suffered several broken bones. According to the dystopian trilogy’s author, James Dashner, his injuries are “not life threatening in any way.”

Filming was set to resume on May 9, but O’Brien has not yet made a full recovery. As of Friday, filming has been put on pause indefinitely.

“The resumption of principal photography on ‘Maze Runner: The Death Cure’ has been further delayed to allow Dylan O’Brien more time to fully recover from his injuries. We wish Dylan a speedy recovery and look forward to restarting production as soon as possible.” -20th Century Fox

While his injuries had initially been dismissed as minor, they reportedly have turned out to be more severe than previously thought. O’Brien’s publicist, Jennifer Allen, confirmed that “his injuries are very serious and he needs more time to recover.”

Since there won’t be much progress on the next movie for a while, the February 17, 2017 release date can be expected to change.
