Auli’i Cravalho will voice Disney’s MOANA after epic search!

While Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has been making quite the impression for Disney’s new animated feature Moana, little did fans know that an epic search was underway to find the perfect voice for the title character. Disney auditioned thousands of teen girls from the Pacific Islands to play their adventurous spirit who makes her own destiny. They found her in 14-year-old Auli’i Cravalho!

Check out this short video introduction to the actress released by Disney, including the moment when she discovers she got the part!

The young soprano will also sing in the feature film, something that she’s used to doing in her high school glee club.

Here’s what she had to say about Moana:

She’s brave, she is so empowered, she knows what she wants and she’s not afraid to get it, and I think that’s something that I can relate to as well. I just love watching how she goes along in this wonderful movie and grows as a person and helps her culture along the way.

Moana will come to the big screen on Thanksgiving 2016.
