Introducing some of the magical creatures from FANTASTIC BEASTS AND WHERE TO FIND THEM.

Fans of the Wizarding World and J.K Rowling have all seen the trailer for Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them – maybe even multiple times. And with the release of the latest trailer, we get a deeper look at what to expect from the film. We also get a deeper look at the magical creatures that are wreaking havoc in the real world.

So let’s take a look at some of the magical creatures we spotted in the trailer for the new movie:

Thunderbird

Thunderbird was mentioned in History of Magic in North America, a book by Rowling. In this book Rowling talked about the Ilvermorny School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, stating that Thunderbird is actually one of the four houses. This bird is known to stir up storms when flying and is related to the phoenix.

Niffler

This little monster is comparable to a child, attracted to all things shiny. It will bite your fingers to try to get your jewlery. And do not undermine them for their cute looks, we all saw what happened to Professor Umbridge, in Harry Potter and the Order of Phoenix, whose fingers were almost clawed off for wearing rings. Even Eddie Redmayne, the star of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, agrees:

“They have this wonderful love-hate relationship,” Redmayne said. “He’s incredibly aggravating and wonderful at [the] same time. He’s a complete nightmare, yet Newt gets off on his playfulness and single-mindedness.”

So be careful if you are wearing jewelry because they will snatch it off!

Billywig

This bird, as seen in the movie trailer and read about in Pottermore, is a bright blue insect with violet and reddish wings upon his head. This insect is known to sting humans causing side effects: giddiness and levitation. However, when dead, the dried stinger is used in many potions.

Demiguise

This might be the only creature, in the trailer, that we’ve seen that is not deadly. The Demiguise is a cute animal that will disappear when it feels threatened. This talent makes this little creature special and in harm’s way, as its fur is sought-after to be made into invisibility cloaks.
