Did Michael Sheen spill the beans too early on his involvement in FINDING DORY?
Disney and Pixar have worked with some wonderful voice actors over the years, most of which are announced early and celebrated often. However, some roles play such a special part in the movie that the studio works to keep them under wraps until the release date– Think Richard Kind as Bing Bong in Inside Out. Did Michael Sheen just reveal a similarly special character in Finding Dory early?
Since the D23 Expo last August, we’ve heard about the casting of Diane Keaton, Eugene Levy, Ed O’Neill, Ty Burrell, and Kaitlin Olsen in spades. Soon after, we got word that Idris Elba and Dominic West would also have roles in Finding Dory. What we haven’t heard was something revealed by Michael Sheen on the Doug Loves Movies January 13th podcast:
“Finding Nemo 2 should be coming out at some point… which I’m in.”
The admission doesn’t necessarily guarantee that Sheen’s role is a special one in the story but.. well.. Why else would Disney keep it under wraps when new additions to the voice cast were announced months ago?!
There’s been no character information or confirmation from Disney, nor has Sheen been added to the IMDB page for the film at this time. It looks like we’ll have to wait until June 17th to find out!
Michael Sheen has previously starred in the Underworld series, The Twilight Saga, Frost/Nixon, and Blood Diamond, among many others. He is currently on the Showtime television series Masters of Sex.
