A MONSTER CALLS Release Date Has Been Pushed Back

Release date for A MONSTER CALLS pushed back to December for possible awards hunt!

The release date for A Monster Calls has been pushed back from the 21st of October to a limited release on 23rd of December with a wider release taking place on the 6th of January. Currently, we are between the summer blockbuster and the awards seasons, so pushing back the date has raised speculation that the movie may be on the hunt for some awards.

We are very excited for the release of the movie, as many of us are fans of the book and we hope that the adaption stays true to the heart of the novel. Although there are changes, which must happen when adapting a book to a different medium, we are still excited to see the movie. With actors such as Felicity Jones (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story) and Sigourney Weaver in the cast as well as the voice of Liam Neeson, it seems impossible that anything could go wrong.

The film directed by J.A. Bayona (who will direct Jurassic World 2 next) is based on the book of the same name by Patrick Ness and follows a 12-year-old boy (Lewis MacDougall) who in dealing with his mother’s (Felicity Jones) terminal illness, his less-than sympathetic grandmother (Sigourney Weaver), and bullying classmates, finds a friend in a nocturnal monster (voiced by Liam Neeson).
