More STAR WARS Films Confirmed After Episode IX

There’s More to Come for the Star Wars franchise after Episode IX

After the box office success that was Episode VII: The Force Awakens, which has to-date made $1.9 billion internationally, there are four films set to be released – Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Star Wars Episode VIII, Star Wars Episode IX, and a young Han Solo spin-off. But BBC confirms that Bob Iger has plans to expand the franchise beyond the trilogy, after Episode IX. This is what he had to say:

“There are five Star Wars films – four more with Episode VII: The Force Awakens – that are in varying stages of development and production,” Disney chairman Bob Iger tells Newsbeat. “There will be more after that, I don’t know how many, I don’t know how often.”

I wonder if this means there will be another trilogy, or even a few more spinoffs in the series. While there are many more years until we find out more, we have a new Star Wars movie practically every year. Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is the next film, coming out December 16, 2016. Star Wars Episode VIII has been pushed back to December 15, 2017. The young Han Solo spinoff (which is currently untitled) is set for release May 25, 2018, and Star Wars Episode IX has an unannounced 2019 date. That’s a lot of Star Wars in our future!
