Check Out the Movie Poster for A MONSTER CALLS

Director J.A. Bayona has released the first poster for the adaptation of Patrick Ness’ A Monster Calls, set to hit theaters on October 21.

, based off of Patrick Ness’ 2011 YA fantasy novel, is about a young boy trying to come to terms with his mother’s terminal illness with help from a strange and unlikely place. The tag line for this poster reads: “Stories are wild creatures” with an absolutely gorgeous background. There’s a tree hand belonging to The Monster hovering above a sleeping Conor, who lies next to a book, presumably a story book.

The movie is being directed by J.A. Bayona (The Orphanage) and stars Sigourney Weaver as Conor’s grandma, Felicity Jones as Conor’s terminally ill mother, Lewis McDougall as Conor, and Liam Neeson as The Monster.

A young boy (Lewis MacDougall) escapes into a fantasy world of monsters and fairy tales as a way to cope with his mother’s (Felicity Jones) illness and bullies at school.

A Monster Calls hits theaters on October 21.
