Netflix bought the rights to DUMPLIN’, the movie adaptation of Julie Murphy’s novel of the same name, which stars Jennifer Aniston.
It has been a while since we heard anything about Dumplin’, which we knew starred Jennifer Aniston, as former beauty queen Rosie Dixon, and Danielle Macdonald as her plus-sized daughter, Willowdean Dixon, nicknamed Dumplin’, who signs up for her town’s teen pageant as a show of protest.

Netflix plans to release Dumplin’ on its platform later this year, naturally, but it will also have showings in select theaters, according to Variety.
The movie was directed by Anne Fletcher, whose credits include such pop culture favorites like Step Up, and the rom-coms The Proposal and 27 Dresses. The screenplay was written by producer writer Kristin Hanh who also wrote the upcoming animated TV movie, Stargirl, based off Jerry Spinelli’s bestseller.
Original music will be created by legendary country music artist Dolly Parton!
