Netflix Sets December Release Date For DUMPLIN Adaptation

DUMPLIN is set to shine on-screen very soon!

Last month, it was announced that Netflix acquired the adaptation of Julie Murphy‘s bestselling YA novel Dumplin and now, we finally have a release date!

The story follows Willowdean Dickson (Danielle MacDonald), a plus-sized Texas teen with a sharp wit whose protest entry into a beauty pageant to spite her mother (Jennifer Aniston) shakes up the social hierarchy in her small town. Along the way, she’ll find her courage tested in unexpected ways, because making a statement is never easy.

Netflix shared their first still from the movie, which features Jennifer Aniston as Willowdean’s mom, Rosie, basking in the former glory of her pageant days. Along with the still comes the release date!

Mark your calendars for December 7, 2018 and start planning that viewing party!

While it’s a bit of a bummer that most of the talk and promotion thus far seems to be focused on Jennifer Aniston (given her very viable star power) rather than Danielle MacDonald’s fat and proud lead character, we’re really excited to see more pics, trailers, and of course the movie itself!

Julie Murphy’s novel Dumplin and its sequel Puddin are currently available wherever books are sold.
