Netflix will release Shadowhunters internationally!
According to Deadline, Netflix has acquired the global rights to Constantin Film’s Shadowhunters. The streaming service will premiere the show as an original series globally a day after the U.S. broadcast on Freeform, the new name for ABC Family. The first episode will launch globally on Netflix, excluding the U.S., on Wednesday, January 13th, with subsequent episodes premiering weekly.
Shadowhunters is the TV adaptation based off the bestselling book series, The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare. The book series was previously adapted to the big screen, with the 2013 film, The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones, staring Lily Collins. The TV series follows Clary Fray (Katherine McNamara), who, on her 18th birthday, learns that she belongs to an ancient race of half-angel warriors, the Shadowhunters. When her mother is kidnapped by an evil power from the Shadow world, Clary is thrown into the world of the Shadowhunters, determined to get her mother back.

As a Canadian fan myself, I am extremely excited that I will be able to watch the show, and jump into the Shadow world along with Clary once again.
Shadowhunters will premiere on Freeform, on Tuesday, January 12th at 9|8c for U.S. viewers, and on Netflix on Wednesday, January 13th for international viewers.
