Ten years after the release of the powerful, award-winning novel, Looking For Alaska is finally coming to the big screen! There were years of doubt and mix-ups along the way, but Electrick Children director Becca Thomas has signed on to direct, Scott Neutadter and Michael H. Weber are working on the script, and filming details have been nailed down!
Despite originally being set in Alabama, Looking For Alaska will film in Michigan this fall. The production will hire roughly 200 crew members and over 1700 extras for the project. Exact filming dates have yet to be announced.
Meanwhile, casting rumors are swirling fiercely! The Wrap reports that Nicole Peltz (Transformers: Age of Extinction), Courtney Eaton (Mad Max: Fury Road), Anya Taylor-Joy (The Witch), Imogen Waterhouse (The Last Photograph) are all in the running for Alaska Young. Charlie Rowe (Red Band Society) and Mitchell Hope (Disney’s Descendents) are reportedly the frontrunners for Miles Halter, while John D’Leo (Unbroken) and Logan Miller (The Stanford Prison Experiment) are duking it out to play Miles’ roommate and best friend Chip aka “The Colonel”.
Looking For Alaska is due out sometime in 2016.
