Two relative newcomers round out the cast of Fox’s NEW MUTANTS movie!

The lead roles for Josh Boone‘s New Mutants have all been cast! Fox has found the remaining two of the five leads for the teen horror-thriller take on the X-Men universe in relative newcomers Blu Hunt and Henry Zaga.

Blu Hunt will play Danielle Moonstar, also known as Mirage, a mutant with telepathic, empathic, and psionic abilities that allow her to create illusions, communicate with animals, and even sense an impending death. The Native American actress has had small roles on television, including a 5-episode run on The Originals as The Hollow.

Henry Zaga has signed on to play Roberto da Costa aka Sunspot, a Brazilian mutant with super strength who can absorb and re-channel solar power into concussive blasts. He too is known for secondary television roles, like Josh Diaz on Teen Wolf and Brad in four episodes of 13 Reasons Why.

Refreshingly, both actors come from the same ethnic background as the characters they’re portraying.

They join Anya Taylor-Joy (Split) as the sorceress Illyana Rasputin aka Magik, Maisie Williams (Game of Thrones) as conflicted werewolf Rahne Sinclair aka Wolfsbane, and Charlie Heaton (Stranger Things) as Sam Guthrie aka Cannonball, a rural Kentuckian who’s impenetrable during flight. It’s also rumored that Rosario Dawson is joining the cast as the group’s mentor, a mutant named Dr. Cecilia Reyes who can build force fields, but it has yet to be officially confirmed.

New Mutants is due out on April 13, 2018.
