Jean Grey is tears and rage in the new X-MEN: DARK PHOENIX Trailer

Sophie Turner shows off her dark side, Game of Thrones style, in the new trailer for X-MEN: DARK PHOENIX, and we’re into it!

20th Century Fox has finally released its first trailer for X-Men: Dark Phoenix, and the spotlight is on Sophie Turner‘s Jean Grey as we get hints of what’s to come for the character and her transformation into the Dark Phoenix.

In DARK PHOENIX, the X-MEN face their most formidable and powerful foe: one of their own, Jean Grey. During a rescue mission in space, Jean is nearly killed when she is hit by a mysterious cosmic force. Once she returns home, this force not only makes her infinitely more powerful, but far more unstable. Wrestling with this entity inside her, Jean unleashes her powers in ways she can neither comprehend nor contain. With Jean spiralling out of control, and hurting the ones she loves most, she begins to unravel the very fabric that holds the X-Men together. Now, with this family falling apart, they must find a way to unite — not only to save Jean’s soul, but to save our very planet from aliens who wish to weaponize this force and rule the galaxy.

Along with Turner, the trailer shows the return of many of the familiar faces from the recent films from the X-Men franchise, including James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, NIcholas Hoult. Added into the cast is Jessica Chastain, who plays a character named Smith, and is categorized as a villain, although we don’t know to what extent.

X-Men: Dark Phoenix hits theaters February 14, 2019.
