The television adaptation of Karen M. McManus‘ One Of Us Is Lying is ready for you to meet some Bayview High students!
Branded as The Breakfast Club meets Pretty Little Liars, the novel follows five teens who walk into detention… and the four who walk out murder suspects after the fifth dies. Bronwyn, Addy, Nate, and Cooper all have reasons to want Simon dead, but which one actually did it and why?
Here’s the breakdown of who’s portraying whom, according to Deadline:
Members of the Bayview 5
Chibuikem Uche will play Cooper, the school’s budding baseball star being scouted by major league for a life-changing deal.
Annalisa Cochrane is taking on Addy, the head cheerleader and one of the most popular girls in school.
Marianly Tejada will be Bronwyn, an extremely intelligent, competitive student on track to be valedictorian with a bright future ahead.
Cooper van Grootel will portray Nate, the infamous school drug dealer and the police department’s prime suspect.
Each of the four has a dark secret and a reason to want Simon dead, but who did it?
Other Bayview students
Barrett Carnahan will portray Jake, Addy’s boyfriend and captain of the football team, who encompasses pretty much all of the stereotypes that entails.
Jessica McLeod will be Janae, an outsider and a punk who was best friends with Simon, the murdered student, before his death. She promises to continue on with his controversial legacy.
Melissa Collazo will play Maeve, Bronwyn’s younger sister who’s focused on seizing every moment of life by the horns after battling leukemia through much of her childhood.
Funny enough, the show hasn’t cast Simon, the murdered student whose troublesome gossip app may have gotten him killed. However, only a pilot has been ordered at this time and it’s possible the character wouldn’t actually be seen pre-death in the first episode.
If it’s picked up to series, One Of Us Is Lying will be exclusive to NBC’s Peacock streaming service.
