Don’t know what the One Ring actually does?
Maybe you’re like many fans of The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit movies, and as many times as you’ve seen it, you’re still unsure as to what exactly the One Ring does. What’s its purpose? How did it come about? Why does it have power over everything else? Why are hobbits less susceptible to its power?
Yeah, I get it. Thinking about it now, I just never questioned it. I just knew it was a powerful object and it was bad to hold.
Well, someone decided that maybe it would be a good idea to explain it to us folk, especially those who don’t necessarily read Tolkien, or at all. Even those who did read it would still have a hard time explaining the One Ring’s origins and purpose. Hence, the video below.
CGP Grey has provided a video to explain in the simplest terms (as simple as you can get when speaking about anything regarding the mythology of the Middle-Earth chronicles) the story behind the One Ring, and it’s a pretty thorough explanation, with pretty good visuals to help. You can tell this was researched extensively and if you go on the video’s YouTube page, you’ll see all the patreons that were involved with it.
I haven’t read all the books, so this definitely made my inner geek happy. Watch the video below to see for yourself.
Now doesn’t that explain a whole lot? Sure, you may have no use for this type of detailed information in your normal everyday life, but you never know. There may come a day when you’re tempted with an evil object to conquer and call your own (Precioussssss!) It can happen! And when it does, maybe this information will help you before it’s too late.
Check out the previous video they made, explaining the mythology of the races of Middle-Earth.
