The film screened at the Cannes Film Festival in France to U.S. and international buyers, and apparently made enough of an impression on Open Road.  The U.S. deal will most likely help the finance and production company Good Universe in their part to sell the film on the international circuit.

Before I Fall stars Zoey Deutch (Vampire Academy) in the lead role as Samantha Kingston, Halston Sage (Paper Towns) as Lindsay, Logan Miller (Ultimate Spider-Man) as Kent McFuller, and Jennifer Beals (TNT’s Proof) as Sam’s mother.  Other cast members include Diego Boneta (Scream Queens), Nicolas Lea (The X-Files), Elena Kampouris (My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2), Cynthy Wu (Twisted), and Erica Tremblay (Supernatural).

All in all, it’s really happening!  Before I Fall will be in theaters, although a release date has yet to be set.

Before I Fall is based on the YA novel by bestselling author Lauren Oliver.  The movie was directed by Ry Russo-Young with screenplay by Maria Maggenti and revisions by Gina Prince-Bythewood.

About the movie:

February 12 is just another day in Sam’s charmed life until it turns out to be her last. Stuck reliving her last day over one inexplicable week, Sam untangles the mystery around her death and discovers everything she’s in danger of losing.  .
