We find out when and where Claire and Jamie reunite as well as a new video from season 3 of OUTLANDER!
When we left Claire (Caitriona Balfe) and Jamie (Sam Heughan) at the end of Season 2, Jamie had sent his true love Claire back to the 20th century, even though she was pregnant, to protect her from the Battle of Culloden as it was expected that Jamie would die.
However, we know that Jamie didn’t die and 20 years will pass before Claire is able to reunite with him. As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, executive producer Ron D. Moore revealed that the infamous print shop scene from the books will be taking place in episode 5. Also in the interview, Moore explained why it was decided to delay the meeting of the love birds.
“As always we take our cues from the book first,” Moore told reporters Friday at the Television Critics Association’s summer press tour. “The book laid out this episodic story of Jamie, it began with five chapters of his life from the Battle of Culloden to Lallybroch, to prison and Hellwater and ends up in the print shop. So as we approached this season structurally, we laid out the cards on the board and it was clear, that’s five episodes right there.
At the same time as Jamie’s journey, Claire also goes through a parallel journey. The first five episodes will focus on her marriage to Frank (Tobias Menzies) and the breakup of their relationship, her becoming and doctor and raising Brianna (Sophie Skelton), her daughter with Jamie. In the first half of the season, it was decided that both story lines would follow this five-stage parallel journey. As Moore explains, 20 years pass between the Battle of Culloden and the meeting in the print shop, so you need to give justice to that time and build the anticipation.
We also have some more footage from season 3 with both Caitriona Balfe and Sam Heughan explaining what has happened to their character and how they are emotionally after the events of season 2.
Outlander returns Sept 10th at 8pm on STARZ.
