Patrick Schwarzenegger, Ike Barinholtz Join MOXIE Movie

Patrick Schwarzenegger and Ike Barinholtz are about to be part of a small-town revolution.

The two are set to join Hadley Robinson and Lauren Tsai in the Amy Poehler-directed YA adaptation Moxie, based on the novel by Jennifer Mathieu.

Moxie follows Viv Carter (Robinson,) a teen who’s grown sick of her football-obsessed Texas high school that allows the players to get away with pretty much anything. Inspired by her own mother’s Riot Grrrl past, Viv releases an anonymous zine meant to battle the school’s culture and somewhat accidentally sets off a feminist revolution.

According to Deadline, Schwarzenegger will play a high school jock who takes a strong stance against the Moxie movement. Deadline calls the role the “male lead,” but we beg to differ given that this doesn’t seem to be Seth. Barinholtz’s role hasn’t been disclosed, but we’re guessing he’ll play a teacher at the school.

Filming is currently underway, so hopefully it won’t be too long before this one hits Netflix!
