With all these streaming services seemingly more open to adapting books for series, and YA books at that, it’s still as hard as ever to keep them on air, if not harder. Even when the show is decent, there’s still a good chance the studio won’t renew for a number of reasons.
Whatever the case may be, both Vampire Academy and One of Us Is Lying, both under NBC’s Peacock streaming service, have been cancelled. Vampire Academy only got one season under its belt before Peacock decided to pull the plug on it and not renew it.
One of Us Is Lying was able to sneak in a second season before getting the axe from Peacock. Despite getting one more season than Vampire Academy, they weren’t able to make it through for another.
According to EW, Peacock is shifting its focus to more comedies and more event-type series dramas. Apparently, what that means is it will not be entertaining teen-focused dramas, whether they be fantasy or murder mystery.
Vampire Academy showrunners Julie Plec and Marguerite MacIntyre are supposedly going to attempt to shop the series to other services, so we’ll just have to wait and see.
