DOCTOR WHO has found his new companion!
The 12th Doctor suffered through the devastating death of Clara Oswald last season, but the adventures of Doctor Who must go on. He’s found himself a new companion to help him carry on in 28-year-old television and theatre actress Pearl Mackie!
Mackie will play “Bill,” who she describes as “cool, strong, sharp, a little bit vulnerable with a bit of geekiness thrown in.” Her character was introduced via a clever video sneak peek in which The Doctor and Bill are on the run from Daleks and the new character reveals plenty of sass and charm!
“I’m incredibly excited to be joining the Doctor Who family. It’s such an extraordinary British institution, I couldn’t be prouder to call the Tardis my home,” Pearl Mackie said in a press release from BBC.
It seems her new co-star and show lead Peter Capaldi is equally thrilled. He describes Mackie as “a fine, fine actress with a wonderful zest and charm, she’s a refreshing addition to the Tardis and will bring a universe of exciting new possibilities to The Doctor’s adventures.”
Doctor Who is set to start filming later this year, but the new season won’t debut until 2017.
