Pierce Brown visited San Diego for the IRON GOLD launch, and we were there!

Pierce Brown, author of the Red Rising Trilogy, starts his IRON GOLD book tour in San Diego at his first bookstore stop.

Pierce Brown’s Iron Gold, the first in a new trilogy that takes place ten years after the end of the bestselling Red Rising Trilogy, was released on Tuesday, January 16th. Brown had a special pre-launch event called the Howlerfest which took place in Los Angeles, CA the Saturday prior to the release date. However, the author still held ties to San Diego, especially the Mysterious Galaxy independent bookstore, as it was the location of his first ever book tour stop for his book that started the Howler craze – Red Rising.

In the video above, he mentions that there were 16 people in attendance for his book launch then. For this particular stop, there were approximately 200 in attendance, some of them waiting close to 3 hours to meet him face to face.

To accommodate the amount of people that were there, it was standing room only, save for the few seats available to the handicapped. Luckily, we were there early enough to save our spot right behind them and thus we were able to get this video footage from front and center.

Author Scott Sigler of YA series The Generations Trilogy was there to moderate, with Brown answering fan questions from working with a new editor to the four different perspectives to what’s going on in the movie front.
