We talk about THE HATE U GIVE, the movie adaptation of Angie Thomas’ debut novel, which touches heavily on a topic that still affects the U.S. today.
One of the movies we’ve been looking forward to seeing on the big screen is The Hate U Give, which is adapted from the book of the same name, written by Angie Thomas. The book was inspired by the Black Lives Matter movement, and deals with the topic through the eyes of Starr, a childhood friend of the victim who was shot to death by a police officer.
Kait, Nat, and Ellie open up about their thoughts on the movie and the cast, which include Amandla Stenberg (The Darkest Minds, Everything, Everything, The Hunger Games) as Starr, Regina Hall (Girls Trip), Russell Hornsby (NBC’s Grimm), Anthony Mackie (Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War), K.J. Apa (The CW’s Riverdale), and Issa Rae (HBO’s Insecure).
Warning: Major spoilers will be discussed, so we recommend you see the movie if you haven’t already before you listen in.
