I’m beyond excited! It has been announced that Dominic Purcell, who played Lincoln Burrows in the excellent crime drama show Prison Break, will now be taking on the role of Mick Rory, aka Heat Wave, in the 10th episode of The Flash.
What’s even more exciting is that Dominic will appear in the same episode as his former Prison Break co-star Wentworth Miller. In fact, Wentworth’s character, Leonard Snart, aka Captain Cold, teams up with Heat Wave.
Created by John Broome and Carmine Infantino in The Flash #140 back in 1963, Rory has appeared in dozens of comics over the years and began as having no powers and relying solely on his flamethrower gun. The character was later reinvented for DC’s “New 52” which saw him as a pyrokinetic instead. It’s unclear which version of the character will be appearing on the upcoming series. Heat Wave is also a noted member of “The Rogues,” and his inclusion in the series makes him the fourth confirmed “Rogue” to appear following Captain Cold, Weather Wizard, and Girder.
Why is this such awesome news? Well, if you’re unfamiliar with “Prison Break”, let me just break it down a little for you.
Dominic’s character, Lincoln Burrows, was imprisoned for a crime he didn’t commit. Wentworth Miller played Michael Scofield, Linc’s younger brother, who determines to get his brother out of prison by getting himself imprisoned in the same facility as his brother.
The show was a big success, and the dynamic between the siblings on the show was amazing, given the talent of these two actors. It didn’t hurt that both men were pretty easy on the eyes in that “bad boy” kind of way.
I can’t wait to see what they can do as actual baddies on this one!
