We rank the YA Book-to-Movie Adaptations of 2018

3) TO ALL THE BOYS I’VE LOVED BEFORE

Based on To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han

Our thoughts:

  • Brilliant. Proof that a good story well-told doesn’t need big names or over-the-top effects. – Tony C @tonywriteswords
  • I’ve been a To All the Boys fan for a long time, and I’m so glad this series is finally getting the recognition it deserves. This movie was true to the book, but also had its own light and tone that set it apart as not just a good adaptation, but as a good film. Both Lana Condor and Noah Centineo were great in the film, though I would also give huge kudos to Anna Cathcart, who played Kitty, and lit up the screen in any scene. This film is an utter joy. – Molly, The Fandom
  • I loved this movie! The actors were great and I liked the cast (the younger sister and LJ’s dad were hilarious). The whole story was sweet and fun and I can’t wait for the sequel. This adaptation actually made me buy the audio books because I want to know who Lara Jean is going to end up with! – Cathrin, TMI Source @TMI_source
  • Even more encouraging than the movie itself is how popular it became, showing that huge chunks of society are ready to embrace and celebrate diverse stories. The leads were adorable and the characters were all ones you wanted to root for. Big hit for Netflix and the genre. – Adam, The Fandom
  • I thought the movie was an adorable adaptation of the book. Visually beautiful, colorful, and entertaining! At some points the stakes didn’t feel as high as I felt they were in the book, but overall an enjoyable movie 🙂 – Hannah, The Fandom
